There should be a complete test on the brake, hook, steel wire rope and safety devices, etc. before the gantry crane in service. The maintenance personnel should remove the failure, if there is any abnormal performance. The operator could close the main power supply on the condition of that there is nobody on the rail.
1. The operators should check the performance of the brake system, when they operate the crane for the first time. The crane lifts the material and the height should be 0.5 meter and then put the material down. If the brake system is reliable, the operator could operate the crane normally.
2. The operator should ring and give an alarm on the following conditions:
(1) Lift or land heavy weight material; Start the trolley or crane travelling;
(2) The operator should give the continuous warning, when travelling route of the crane is beyond the operator’s sight.
(3) The operator should give the warning, when the crane comes near to another crane on the same rail to avoid the collision.
(4) The operator should give the warning, when there is someone near the lifting material. The operation could start when the person is in the safety position.
3. The operator should operate the crane according to the uniform commanding signal and could not operate the crane just according with his own mind.
4. The operator should put all the crane controller handles at “Zero” position at the condition of sudden power-off during the crane working. The operator should have a test on the crane performance before the crane get back to work again. The operator could operate the crane, if the crane’ performance is normal.
5. It is forbidden to drive to the opposite direction compared with the trolley and crane travelling direction to achieve brake function. The operator could drive to the opposite direction when the travelling mechanism is complete stopped.
6. It is not allowed that the two hooks lift the material at the same time for gantry crane with two hooks. The main hook and the aux hook must work independently to avoid the collision between them when the two hooks are used in alternation or they have almost the same height. The lifting mechanism and brake should be checked when the crane is out of work.
7. It is not allowed to use the limiting device to achieve the trolley shut down. The operator should pay much more attention on the safety operation and avoid unexpected conditions. It is forbidden to adjust the brake when the lifting mechanism is in the working station.
8. If there is any abnormal performance in the operation of gantry crane, the operator should shut down the crane and check the problem.
9. The gantry crane should certainly carry out the “TEN NO LIFTING” in the operation.
(1) Commanding signal is not clear or unreasonable;
(2) Lifting weight is out of the rated lifting capacity;
(3) The lifting attachment is not reasonable or the lifting material is not fixed tightly;
(4) There is someone or unfixed goods on the lifting material;
(5) Brake sticking or other safety devices are in failure;
(6) The crane lifts the material and goes directly into machining step;
(7) The lifting material is unstable, skew and oblique;
(8) The material is explosive;
(9) The material is buried in the ground;
(10) The material is with corner angle without fixed well.
10. The operator lifts the hook at certain height, stops the trolley and crane at designated position, puts the controller handle back to “ZERO” position and cuts off power after using the gantry crane. And then, the operator could start the daily maintenance on the gantry crane.
