Handling in the wind power industry

The wind power industry requires precise lifting solutions for many different situations. All parts of the windmill need handling at one point. Effortless and precise lifting by vacuum handling
Most Aerolift lifting solutions are based on vacuum lifting technology. We prefer vacuum lifting due to the many advantages compared to other lifting solutions. The unique properties of vacuum lifting technology are also extremely suited for the wind power industry. Think of:

Lifting the heavy plates of the windmill tower
For the wind power industry, we designed world’s biggest vacuum lifter. At least until now. As a whole the lifting device is 31,2 meters long and able to lift plates up to 85 tons! The vacuum lifter is specially designed to lift the extremely heavy steel plates of the windmill tower. Despite of the weight, the steel plates are handled with ease and in complete control.

Handling the spare caps of the windmill blades
After production the spare caps need to be lifted and turn to match the shape of the windmill blades. Specially for this purpose we designed an extremely long vacuum lifting device (66,3 meters!) which is able to turn to match the required position.

Laminating of the windmill blades
To laminate windmill blades, we developed a vacuum lifting solution to handle the laminates from horizontal to vertical in the shape required. Due to the unique properties of vacuum, laminating of the long windmill blades goes easy and without damage or deformations.

Lifting windmill blades
Vacuum handling is extremely suitable to demould and lift the extreme long windmill blades. To demould and lift the vacuum lifter is placed on top of the windmill blade without any human interference. The soft suction pads and divided surface pressure enable lifting without the risk of damage to the windmill blade. The lifting process goes easy, fast, safe and with less manpower.

Mounting a windmill blade to the tower
Specially for the construction of the windmills and repairs we designed a vacuum lifting device to lift the completed windmill blades during mounting.
